The variety originates from the Laa an der Thaya region, Austria. It is an open-pollinated variety adapted for cultivation in arid conditions without additional irrigation at an annual precipitation rate of 300–450 mm.
The bulbs have yellow skins and a characteristic pear shape. The variety is noted for its good keeping quality, allowing the harvest to be stored until May. Harvesting takes place in September.
The variety belongs to the amateur group and is used for the preservation of regional biodiversity.
