The variety forms large, rounded bulbs with an intense red-purple coloration of the dry scales and light-colored flesh with a reddish tint. It belongs to the category of long-day varieties intended for cultivation in northern latitudes.
The onion has a mild and sweet taste with the pungency characteristic of red varieties. It is characterized by high keeping quality; under proper storage conditions, the produce maintains its qualities for six months or more.
The variety is used in breeding research to study the accumulation of quercetin and sugars. Under conditions of moisture and light deficiency, it may show reduced productivity.
