The plant forms bunches with small false bulbs. The leaves are tubular, reaching up to 45 cm in length, and possess a distinct spicy flavor. With spring hilling, it is possible to blanch the leaves to give them a milder taste.

The variety is characterized by an early start of vegetation in the spring period, outpacing chives in growth. The white inflorescences of the plant are attractive to bees. Leaves are consumed fresh, stewed, or as part of vegetable dishes, as are the tender buds and flowers.

The crop is perennial and winter-hardy, suitable for organic gardening and private vegetable farming. It can be used as green onions throughout the entire season with gradual harvesting.
