Staro variety is distinguished by large tubular leaves 30–45 cm in height, which makes it convenient for drying and freezing. The maturation period is 75–85 days. The plant has a mild onion flavor and forms dense clumps.

This variety is a frost-resistant perennial, adapted to USDA zones 3–9 and resistant to air pollution. The plant tolerates cutting well, is suitable for container cultivation, and can be used in ornamental gardening due to its edible purple inflorescences.
