The perennial tropical herbaceous plant has a rosette of stiff, slightly prickly-edged dark green leaves. Under indoor conditions, the plant height reaches about 40 cm; in open field, it can grow up to 1–1.2 m.

The variety is slow-growing; fruiting occurs 2–3 years after planting. The decorative fruit forms in the center of the rosette on a sturdy peduncle. The plant is heat-loving, does not tolerate temperatures below 10°C, and requires good lighting and moderate watering with protection against soil waterlogging.
