The variety was developed using genetic engineering methods through the expression of the phytoene synthase gene from mandarin and the suppression of lycopene cyclase enzymes. The MD2 variety was used as the source material. The intended use of the fruit is for the fresh market, as well as processing into juice or frozen products.

Distinctive features include pink or red flesh color due to high lycopene content and a specific rind coloration combining green, yellow, orange, and red shades. The variety possesses resistance to natural flowering, which allows this process to be controlled independently of external factors.
