The Tripolina di Mezzogoro variety is a local Italian variety that was long conserved by private individuals in the Ferrara province. The variety name is historically associated with the 1940s and the potential introduction of the crop from the Tripoli area in Libya.

In the Emilia-Romagna region, this peanut was traditionally grown for oil production and the extraction of meal used in livestock farming. Detailed agronomic characteristics, including maturity dates and disease resistance indicators, are not available in open publications.
