The Ion variety is characterized by fuchsia-colored petioles and green leaf blades with a smooth texture. The ratio of leaf blade length to petiole is 1.0.

The plant is intended for professional production and the fresh produce market. In the breeding of the variety, attention was paid to resistance to downy mildew and reducing the tendency of leaves to redden under stress.
