The variety is traditional for Sweden and has been grown since ancient times. The name «Gul svensk» encompasses a group of local populations. The root crops have a round or round-flattened shape, characterized by a green color of the upper part and a yellow lower part, the flesh is also yellow.

The variety is considered quite early, which allowed it to be cultivated in the northern regions of Sweden. The root crops are distinguished by a firm consistency, a sweetish taste, and a high content of dry matter.
