The Svensk gröntoppig variety, also known as Gul Svensk or Svalöfs Original Gelbe Schwedische, is a population selected from local Swedish lines. It has been mentioned in breeding documents since 1910 and has undergone continuous selection since then.

The variety belongs to yellow-fleshed swede types and is adapted to the climatic conditions of Northern Europe. Historically, it was used in Sweden as a food and fodder crop, and is currently considered part of the agricultural cultural heritage.
