Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is mid-season or mid-early with a maturity period of 95 to 120 days. The plant stem is sturdy, reaching a height of 60 to 100 cm. Leaves and small firm sprouts 3–4 cm in diameter have a dark purple or purple-green color, the intensity of which increases in cool weather.

The plant is classified as a cold-hardy variety and requires staking to prevent stem lodging. The sprouts have a sweet taste with nutty notes and are suitable for various types of culinary processing, including stewing, frying, baking, pickling, and freezing.

The variety is considered an heirloom and is an open-pollinated variety, not a hybrid, which allows for seed collection for further propagation. It is assumed that Rubine was obtained by crossing Brussels sprouts with red cabbage.
