The Solanepe variety, also known as Mainepe and Matnepe, is an early-maturing annual plant. The roots have a flat, round shape and white color, with their upper part colored blue or purple.
The plant has dense, crunchy flesh with a sweet, mild taste, which allows it to be used raw, as well as for making salads and soups. The variety is distinguished by high resistance to clubroot and cabbage root fly.
This table variety has been grown in Norway for over 100 years, having undergone selection in the Rogaland region. It is officially recognized as a conservation variety for specific growing conditions and is registered in the Nordic Genetic Resource Center.
