The variety is identified as a representative of the species Bromus carinatus. In studies, the productivity of Luval proves to be slightly lower than that of perennial ryegrass, and also lower than that of Bromus inermis and Bromus sitchensis. The development rates of the variety are comparable to those of the perennial ryegrass variety Vigor.
The plant is sensitive to growing conditions: it tolerates intensive trampling poorly and does not perform well on excessively moist soils. The content of mineral elements in the biomass can vary, while bromegrasses as a whole are characterized by good calcium levels.
High genetic variability is observed within the species, which affects agronomic indicators; this requires taking into account the specifics of growing conditions when using this variety in forage production.
