The plant is a dwarf evergreen shrub with a bushy growth habit, reaching a height of 20 to 50 cm. Its foliage consists of dark green needle-like leaves 0.1–0.3 cm in size, arranged oppositely.
Flowering lasts from July to October; the variety belongs to the group of bud-flowering heathers, in which the flowers do not open fully, which extends the period of decorative appeal. The plant is winter hardy, prefers acidic, well-drained soils, and requires annual spring pruning.
