Hilda is a dense shrub with upright shoots, reaching a height of about 30 cm and a width of up to 25 cm. The plant has dark green foliage, on which lighter growth appears in the spring.
The variety is characterized by late flowering from September to December. Its flowers do not open fully, remaining in the bud stage, which protects them from rain, fog, and early frosts. For successful growth, the variety requires a sunny location and acidic, drained soils.
The plant is used in landscape design for creating heather gardens, borders, rockeries, and alpine gardens. The compact size allows for the use of the variety in container gardening and for creating compositions with rhododendrons and conifers.
