The plant is a compact shrub with a crown diameter of 18–24 cm. The leaves are scale-like, triangular, sessile, densely arranged, and are about 2 cm long and less than 1 cm wide.

The variety prefers sunny areas or light partial shade. For cultivation, acidic, nutritious, or moderately fertile soils are required, such as sandy, peaty, or swampy ones. The plant is moisture-loving, requires regular watering, and good drainage.
