The plant has an upright habit and reaches a height of 50–60 cm. The foliage has a dark green color. The variety belongs to the group of bud-flowering heathers, in which the flowers do not fully open, which extends the ornamental period from September to November.
There are discrepancies in descriptions of the bud color, ranging from snow-white to blood-red. The plant is characterized by winter hardiness (USDA zones 4–5) and prefers sunny areas and acidic, well-drained soils.
