Volante is a compact bushy shrub 20–30 cm in height and width. The plant belongs to the group of "bud-flowering" heathers, in which the buds remain closed, ensuring long-lasting decorative appeal. The foliage is dark green, needle-like, and small. White bell-shaped flowers are collected in raceme inflorescences; flowering lasts from August to November.
The variety is winter-hardy. For cultivation, sunny or semi-shaded locations with loose, humus-rich, and acidic soil are preferred. The plant requires infrequent, deep watering; pruning is possible in the spring. It is used as a container crop, honey plant, groundcover, as well as for group and solitary plantings.
