The variety is an heirloom originating from Southern Italy. The plant is bushy, compact, reaching a height of 40 cm when grown in containers and 80–100 cm in open field or greenhouses. The variety is undemanding and well adapted to various growing conditions.
Fruits are round, 2.5–5 cm in diameter, bright scarlet at biological maturity, with thick crispy flesh. The ripening period is 85–90 days. Heat levels range from 5 000 to 50 000 Scoville Heat Units, while the fruits possess a fruity aroma and sweetness.
Traditionally, the variety is used for stuffing with anchovies, mozzarella, or cheese, followed by grilling or preserving in oil. It is also suitable for drying, creating sauces, and fresh consumption.
