The Delgado variety is not intended for the general consumer market and is officially classified as a reference specimen. Its primary role is to check tested varieties for resistance to pathogens during breeding trials.
The plant possesses confirmed resistance to tobacco mosaic viruses, in particular to pathotype P1-2 of pepper mild mottle virus (PMMoV). In official protocols, it is used for comparison with susceptible varieties. Detailed morphological characteristics of the plant are not presented in open sources.
