The variety is early-maturing and non-hybrid. The bush reaches a height of 80–100 cm. The fruits have a long narrow shape, a length of 7–12 cm, and a weight of about 3 g. At the stage of biological ripeness, they turn red, have thin flesh, and grow on the plant in upward-facing clusters.
The plant is characterized by a sturdy structure and does not require support in the open field. It is suitable for cultivation in open and protected ground, as well as in containers. The fruits possess a distinct chili aroma, a pungency of 7 points out of 10, and are well-suited for drying.
The variety is often classified as a Thai chili. It should not be confused with the group of sweet tomato-shaped peppers of the Gogoshar (Ratunda) type, as Red Gunda is a hot pepper with different fruit characteristics.
