Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety has a number of synonyms, including Pastanese, Pastenese, Pastonese and Pelosa. Under agronomic conditions, it is adapted to the climate of the Apennine mountain regions. Plant vegetation begins at the end of April or early May; flowering occurs in the period from early June to the first ten days of July.

The fruits of the variety are highly valued for their gastronomic qualities, in particular for their ease of peeling and sweetness, which makes them suitable for drying and milling. Due to many years of folk selection and the likelihood of errors in identification in old orchards, genetic analysis methods are recommended for accurate determination of varietal identity.
