The variety is the result of centuries of folk selection and is part of the regional agrobiodiversity of the Susa Valley. It is included in the «Pelose» group, which also contains the Pelosa Grossa and Fuglissa varieties.

The name of the variety indicates a morphological feature of the fruits — the presence of pubescence in the hilum area. This biotype is traditionally used in fruit growing and is preserved as part of the historical heritage of the region's chestnut plantations.
