The variety Pelosora (sometimes Pelosola) is a local historical ecotype of Castanea sativa that formed as a result of folk selection in the Garfagnana region, Lucca province. The tree is cultivated in traditional orchards alongside other local varieties.
The fruits of this variety are highly valued for their organoleptic properties, which make them suitable for drying and subsequent milling into flour, known as Farina di Neccio della Garfagnana DOP. Detailed quantitative morphological and agronomic characteristics of the plant are not presented in scientific literature.
