The Lucignana variety, also known by the synonyms Pelosarino and Pelosorino, is included in the regional register of genetic resources of Tuscany as a conservation variety. It is a product of folk selection, not modern breeding.

The plant is traditionally grown in the Lucca province and is historically used as a food crop for fruit production. Specific agronomic characteristics of the variety are not described in open sources.
