Variety description

The variety belongs to the escarole cultivar group (var. latifolium). The plant forms a loose, well-filled dense head, in the center of which a yellowish heart often forms. The leaves are wide, almost entire, and sufficiently flat.

The crop is suitable for cool-season cultivation. When sown in early spring, there is a risk of premature bolting; therefore, it is recommended to delay sowing until the beginning of summer. In dense plantings during wet weather, the plants are prone to rotting.

The leaves have a mild taste with the slight bitterness characteristic of endive. To obtain a more delicate flavor, the plants can be blanched by limiting light exposure to the center of the rosette for 7–10 days before harvest.
