The variety forms a vigorous, spreading rosette of deeply dissected, bright green leaves, which take on a reddish hue during cold weather. The plant has long, spindle-shaped roots.
Leaves are consumed fresh in salads or after heat treatment. The variety is suitable for winter forcing in a dark room to obtain tender blanched leaves from root crops.
