The variety African Sunset (breeding number ARCCIT 1519) is a hybrid of mandarin varieties Ellendale and Robin. The tree has moderate vigor, forms a dense spherical crown, and is characterized by high yield.

The fruits have a bright orange-red rind with a smooth or slightly rough surface. The flesh is dark orange, juicy, with high sugar content and balanced acidity. When grown in isolated blocks, the fruits are commercially seedless or contain few seeds.

The variety is mid-season: harvest in the Northern Hemisphere occurs from December to the end of January. The fruits are suitable for transportation and retain market quality at a temperature of 4°C for up to six weeks.
