The Atwood Navel variety is a type of navel orange group, which arose as a spontaneous bud mutation of the Washington Navel variety. The plant has a compact or dense crown, with virtually no external differences from the parent variety.

The fruits are large in size and round in shape, with the rind having a smoother texture. The flesh is sweet and juicy; seeds are absent. The variety is classified as early or mid-early, with the ripening season falling between November and January.

The fruits of this variety are suitable for long-term storage on the tree without significant loss of quality. The variety is intended for commercial cultivation and fresh market sales, and is also represented in citrus collections.
