The variety is the result of a natural mutation that occurred in Sicily. The tree is characterized by its medium size, reaching 2–3 meters in height in container cultivation. The fruits are medium-sized, with a diameter of 5–8 cm, and ripen between December and April.
The fruit flesh is very juicy, with a deep red or nearly black color due to a high anthocyanin content. The flavor is sweet, with distinct raspberry or cranberry notes. The plant has low winter hardiness and tolerates temperatures no lower than -6 °C.
The right is granted for a limited term: propagation of the variety requires a license from the rights holder.
