The variety is a vigorous remontant tree capable of flowering and fruiting repeatedly throughout the year. The fruits have a specific rind bumpiness, compared to clusters of grapes, and a developed layer of white albedo, characteristic of citrons.

Fruit weight often exceeds 300 grams. The taste is characterized as balanced, with pronounced acidity and notes of sweetness, while the fruits possess a rich aroma. One tree, with proper care, is capable of producing up to 100 kg of fruit.

The variety is known under a number of local names, such as Trabia, Perettone, Piretto or Citron Cannerone. Its cultivation is concentrated primarily in the municipality of Trabia in Sicily for local consumption.
