Calamondin is a fast-growing, well-branching evergreen plant with a dense crown. In natural conditions, it reaches a height of 3–5 meters; when grown indoors, the height is usually 60–150 cm. Leaves are dark green, glossy, aromatic, measuring from 4 to 10 cm.
The plant is remontant and is capable of flowering and fruiting almost all year round. Fruits are small, weighing 10–15 g, have a thin aromatic orange peel and sour pulp with seeds. Calamondin is considered adapted to indoor conditions, however, it is susceptible to typical citrus pests.
The crop is valued for interior landscaping due to its ability to bear flowers and mature fruits simultaneously. In cooking, the fruits are used for preparing beverages, sauces, marinades, and jams; fresh consumption is difficult due to high acidity.
