The variety is a triploid hybrid bred by crossing the LB8-9 mandarin and a tetraploid form of the Hamlin sweet orange. Based on morphological characteristics, the fruit is similar to oranges of the Navel group, possessing a characteristic navel at the base.

The fruit of this variety is characterized by more intense internal and external coloration, as well as higher acidity and Brix sugar content levels. An important feature is the complete seedlessness of the fruit even under conditions of intensive cross-pollination.
