Variety description

The plant is a climbing vine that clings to supports using its leaf petioles. Leaves are green, glossy, simple or ternate, cordate in outline. Flowering occurs from May to July on previous year's and current year's shoots; the variety belongs to pruning group 3.

Flowers are simple, consisting of 6 sepals. At the beginning of flowering, they are purple-red; in full bloom, they are red-pink with light pinkish-blue edges and a whitish stripe in the center. In the center of the flower are stamens with yellow anthers on green filaments and yellowish styles.

The variety is frost-hardy (down to -30°C, zones 5b). It prefers fertile, well-drained soils with a reaction from slightly acidic to neutral, as well as well-lit areas protected from the wind. It is suitable for vertical gardening of arches, gazebos, and for container cultivation.
