The plant reaches a height of 1.8–3.0 meters and has flowers 6–10 cm in diameter. Upon opening, the petals are a rich purple color, eventually acquiring a cobalt blue hue. White filaments are complemented by blue anthers.

The variety belongs to pruning group 3, which involves removing shoots in early spring to 15–20 cm from the ground level. The plant is frost-hardy (USDA zones 4–9) and suitable for growing against supports or in containers. It prefers sunny locations or light partial shade with the root zone protected from overheating.
