The variety Tana, also known as Renegade, is a hybrid of Cordyline australis and Cordyline banksii. The plant forms dense clumps and reaches a height of about 1.5 meters. The leaves have a distinct "lacquered" finish and intense dark coloration.

The plant belongs to ornamental crops used for landscaping gardens and terraces as a container plant. The variety is characterized by tolerance to salt spray, arid conditions, and high temperatures, preferring well-drained soils.
