In a botanical context, the name «Göbek» often appears as part of compound names. For the quince crop, the form «Guzuk Göbek» (or «Cukurgöbek») is encountered, characterized by a pear-shaped fruit with light yellow thin skin and a medium maturity group.
In scientific publications, the term «Göbek» (in particular «Yuvarlak Çukur Göbek») more often refers to loquat. In the Turkish language, the word is also used to describe morphological characteristics of fruits rather than as an official varietal name, which creates confusion in plant identification.
