The variety Kølster, also known as Kvæde Kølster, is regional breeding material. Propagation of the variety began in 1999, and it is preserved in genetic collections such as Blomstergårdens Pomet.

The fruits of the variety differ little in their shape from the fruits of the Portuguese pear-shaped quince variety. Detailed agronomic characteristics, including data on disease resistance, plant height, and maturity group, are absent from open sources.
