Domaća represents an autochthonous population that has been cultivated by local farmers for a long time. Due to the fact that this is a collective name for local plant types, the morphological traits of the population may vary, and a standardized variety description is absent.
The variety is valued for its adaptation to local growing conditions and holds scientific and historical value. It is traditionally used in culinary applications and is also the subject of state programs for the conservation of genetic resources of vegetable crops in Croatia.
