The plant has a compact and dense form. The leaves are small, lanceolate, shiny, dark green, and arranged alternately. The flowers are gathered in racemes at the tips of the shoots.
Flowering lasts from June to September. The shrub is frost-resistant down to -15 °C, requires acidic, humus-rich, moist, and well-drained soils without lime. Regular pruning after flowering is recommended. The plant is used in landscape design, container gardening, and is a honey plant.
