ActiveDactylis glomerata L. · Cocksfoot
Oregon State Univ. (USA)
10 August 2026
The variety is diploid (2n = 14), which causes morphological differences from tetraploid counterparts: the presence of lighter and more tender leaves, as well as a lower stem height, reaching 80–90 cm. The development of the variety occurs 7–10 days later than standard samples, while it matures more slowly.
The plant possesses high winter hardiness, is resistant to water stress, and tolerates partial shade well. Despite a 9–13% lower biomass yield in pure sowing, the variety is valued for a favorable yield distribution across three to four cuts and weak competition with other grass and legume species.
The variety is recommended for use in hay meadow mixtures, as well as in pastures with low grazing intensity. Due to its non-aggressive growth habit, it is suitable for co-cultivation with alfalfa and for use in landscaping in shaded areas.
