The plant has an upright habit of medium density with a moderate number of branches. The stems are characterized by dense pubescence and weak anthocyanin coloration. The leaves are opposite, lanceolate in shape with an acute tip and serrated margin, and are sessile; the upper side of the leaf is medium or dark green, with medium glossiness.

The flowers are located in the leaf axils in pairs. The inner and outer sides of the corolla are orange, with the inner surface supplemented by a red overlay. The flowers and corolla tube are longer than those of the wild form of the species. Plants of this variety are more compact and shorter in comparison to the wild type Diplacus aurantiacus.
