The plant forms a dense rosette of fleshy pointed leaves resembling an agave. The leaves are typically green, and under intense lighting, their edges or tips color in a red or bronze shade.

The height of the rosette is 8–12 cm, and the diameter can reach 30 cm. The species is slow-growing, heat-loving, and prone to root rot with excessive moisture. In temperate climates, it is cultivated primarily as an indoor plant.
