The Artist variety is classified as hair fescue (Festuca trichophylla), often considered part of the red fescue group (Festuca rubra). The plant is traditionally used in the turf industry and is included in grass mixtures for creating ornamental and sports lawns.
It is characterized by the formation of a dense sward with fine leaves. It is mentioned in variety trial reports from 1960 to 1989, where its resistance, including in high-altitude conditions, was evaluated.
