The Capitol variety belongs to the subspecies of Chewings fescue. The plant does not form long rhizomes, forming a dense turf.

The variety is intended for inclusion in seed mixtures for ornamental lawns and golf courses. It is characterized by high shoot density, the ability to be mowed low, and the aesthetic appearance of the grass stand.
