The variety belongs to the subspecies Festuca rubra subsp. rubra (strongly creeping red fescue). It is used in landscaping and as a component of lawn grass mixtures to form a dense and durable turf resistant to traffic. The variety has also been used in experimental research as a ground cover plant.
The plant possesses proven resistance to the fungal disease dollar spot (Sclerotinia homoeocarpa). In scientific research, the variety has been considered as a model crop for studying allelopathic interactions and the properties of symbiotic endophytes that influence protection against insect pests.
