The Gentil variety belongs to the species slender creeping red fescue (Festuca rubra trichophylla). The plant is intended for inclusion in seed mixtures used in lawn landscaping and sports surfaces.

The variety participated in experiments studying the resistance of lawn grasses to mechanical stress and trampling, where stand density and response to intensive use were evaluated.
