The Rubina variety is a perennial grass with narrow leaves, capable of forming a dense sod due to the development of rhizomes. In classifications of the 1980s, the variety was characterized as a plant of medium height.
Traditionally, the variety was used in lawn construction. Rubina was also used in scientific research as a model object when studying the mechanisms of plant adaptation to iron deficiency in carbonate soils.
