The Valaška variety was obtained through selection from local ecotypes collected in permanent grasslands. The plant belongs to the tufted forms of red fescue, which distinguishes it from varieties with underground rhizomes.
The variety is characterized by drought tolerance and the ability to grow in poor soils. In cases of severe drought, the plant temporarily slows growth but recovers quickly. It is recommended for inclusion in perennial pasture grass mixtures and for the establishment of extensive lawns.
