The Valetta variety belongs to the species Festuca rubra L., although it is classified in a number of trials as Chewings fescue (Festuca rubra ssp. commutata). The plant is distinguished by fine leaves and high turf density.

The variety is intended for use in lawn grass mixtures. During professional trials, the variety demonstrated lawn quality indicators at a mowing height of 10 to 40 mm, and was also evaluated for resistance to fungal diseases, including gray snow mold.
